My Dad said things are gonna get worse, a long time before they get better, I hope he's wrong but I know he's right Thatcher's children are in government, a coalition, now it's Cameron's Britain, it was his for the taking Unemployment's at an all time high, we're all depressed so we stay inside Block out reality with reality television But bread and circuses won't pay the rent, we're struggling just to make ends meet, and it'll be the same again next week So this is what we've got Independent people with independent thought So this is our lot If you thought it was okay, well no, it's not My boss said he was sorry son, he'd had the order and he had to get rid of someone, he said I'd find a new job in no time But it's the same everywhere that I look, there's no-one playing by the book, temporary staff for temporary work, we're all temporary Job satisfaction's at an all time low, we struggle through our shifts, just wait to go home, we'll drink away our wages and then stagger home alone But these wages can't even pay the bills, we're taking out loans on top of loans, if I think about it for too long, I feel ill We're being worked from birth til death and paid a pittance for an hourly rate, we're supposed to be satisfied with the thought that we could reach our supervisor's place, well maybe we could win the lottery, or be pop stars or footballer's wives, I don't know about you, but I want to feel alive.

Four Hours 02:46
Four hours gone We're not the only ones Who crave the kick of white hot lead To lay the bastards down Under a reddening sun We justify the oldest crimes through orders passed on down the line Four years on The iron of my youth is gone My limbs shake in imitation of The fear and hate we sowed Under that reddening sun The night hours cannot bring relief to those who live in fear of sleep If I die in a combat zone Box me up and ship me home Pin my medals to my chest Tell my girl I did my best I asked no questions and bought a lie And when all this is over I will sing my heart out

about

All money raised will go directly to the Refugee Survival Trust, Edinburgh (www.rst.org.uk).

The RST was set up in 1996 as a reaction to the problem of refugees and asylum claimants being made destitute in Scotland. Grants made by the RST either alleviate poverty and destitution, or help refugees and asylum claimants to overcome obstacles in accessing educational and employment opportunities.

Their work is as vital today as it has ever been.
